Ammonia-free curls with a natural feel, bounce and shine.

Enriched with plant amino acids, Organic Colour Systems' revolutionary perming system offers a gentler approach to permanently curling hair than traditional perms.

OCS Think Curl avoids ammonium thioglycolate, ammonia, SLS and SLES. Instead it utilises cysteamine hydrochloride, which has the unique benefit of mimicking the cysteine amino acid to help reform and strengthen bonds within the hair.

OCS curl offers unique opportunities for your salon business.

instructions for perming /

preparation /

The key to creating beautiful healthy curls, without the need for harsh chemicals, is correct preparation of the hair. Follow these easy steps for perfect perm prep!

1. Prior to applicaiton, wash hair with Charcoal Detox Shampoo.

2. Analyse the hair using the Wet Stretch Test to determine its condition.

3.
Shampoo and treat the hair using the correct Organic Colour Systems shampoo and treatment as determined by the Wet Stretch Test.

4.
Ensure the hair has good stretch and return before using Think Curl™.

note /

Ideally, treatments process for 15 minutes under the thermal booster hat; with the exception of power build revamp when used on its own, which is processed without the use of the booster cap.

mixing /

for hair with a good stretch and return /

Use 70ml Think Curl™ Lotion with 30ml Think Curl™ Activator.

for strong hair that stretches but doesn't fully return /

Use 70ml Think Curl™ Lotion with 15-20ml Think Curl™ Activator.

for weak hair that stretches but does not return /

Use 70ml Think Curl™ Lotion on its own with no Activator.

note /

It may be necessary to pre-dampen extremely long hair with the Think Curl™ Lotion to ensure better penetration. Do not use Activator at this stage.

winding & application /

It's now time to wind your perm as usual and apply the Think Curl Lotion. But before you start, check out our top tips:

1. Spray Power Build Revamp onto the end paper before winding to protect the ends of the hair.

2.
Pack damp cotton wool, sprayed with Soothe Plus Treatment, around the hairline to absorb any excess Lotion.

3. Before applying Think Curl Lotion, lightly spray the rods with Power Build Revamp to keep the hair wet.

4. Using protective gloves, apply Think Curl Lotion to each rod ensuring the hair is completely saturated. Use some clean, dry cotton wool to catch any drips.

5. Replace the damp cotton wool around the hairline with clean, fresh cotton wool.

note /

Should any lotion accidentally spill onto the skin, remove immediately with cotton wool dampened with water. Apply Soothe Plus Treatment to the area.

processing /

To process, cover head with a plastic cap and sit your client under a pre-heated dryer set on a medium heat, or an Organic Colour Systems’ Thermal Booster Hat, for the following times:

For hair with a good stretch and return: Process for 10 minutes with heat and 10 minutes without heat. Take a test curl every 5 minutes after the first 15 minutes.

For hair with stretch that doesn’t fully return: Process for 10 minutes with heat and five to 15 minutes without heat. Take a test curl every 5 minutes after the first 15 minutes.

For hair that’s stretching and not returning: Process for 5 minutes with heat and take a test curl every 5 minutes thereafter to establish the time without heat. Development time should not exceed 20 minutes.

For very weak fragile hair: Do not use heat. Process for five to 30 minutes and curl test after the first 5 minutes.

note /

Due to the exceptionally gentle nature of Think Curl, it will take 20-30% more time to process than a conventional perm. The test curl should be in the shape of an 'S' or 'U', depending on how you wrap the hair.

neutralising /

1 / After processing is complete, remove cap and cotton wool and rinse the hair thoroughly with water, as hot as possible, for 10-15 minutes.

2 / Thoroughly blot each rod with a towel, eco-towel or cotton wool to remove any surplus water.

3 / Add fresh cotton wool around the hairline.

4 / Pump eight drops of the Think Curl™ Hair Deodoriser into the Think Curl™ Neutraliser and gently tip the bottle to mix the contents.

5 / Apply three-quarters of the Neutraliser using the bottle and applicator provided, ensuring that each rod is saturated. Leave for 5 minutes.

6 / Gently remove the rods and apply the remaining Neutraliser to the hair, massaging and scrunching the hair up gently. Leave for a further 3 minutes to ensure complete penetration of product into the ends of the hair.

7 / Rinse thoroughly with hot water and carefully towel dry.

8 / Apply Soothe Plus Treatment to the scalp. Leave for up to 5 minutes.

9 / Apply Keep Curl Conditioner from roots to ends. Leave for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

note /

When styling hair that has been freshly permed, avoid pulling strenuously with brushes and other tools.

client care /

Don't forget to teach your client how to care for their new curls, especially in the 72 hours directly following their service.

Hair should not be washed for 72 hours following the perming process. However, dry shampoos may be used in this time.

Hair should not be pulled back in a band for 72 hours following the Think Curl™ service as this can disrupt the new bonds.

For superior curl longevity, prescribe your client with the correct OCS care and styling products as determined by the Wet Stretch Test and their styling needs.
